Economic cars are for those on a limited budget, usually there are a great demand of such models so try to rent yours well in advance. Models usually have mechanic gear box (stick), and sizes are more of the European standards, small from the american point of view.

Renting a Car during your travel to Cuba will be one of the best ways to really know the country. If you are interested in moving around at your own pace and with total freedom we strongly recommend that you hire a car during your stay.

Public transportation are almos non-existent in the island and those mediums of transport created focused in the tourists are not always cheap, and limited.

Taxis are very expensive (compared to the islands standar), and usually very hard to catch, you could spend long minutes calling all the taxi companies before any andwer, and usually will have to wait up to 30min. for pickup. This is more usual on weekends where demand rises.
